These suggestions are good for everyone, regardless of whether your are experiencing any discomfort.
1. Drink plenty of alkaline water everyday. One half ounce per pound of body weight is a good rule of thumb. If you weigh 150 pounds, drink 75 ounces of water daily. This helps flush the toxins from the cells, the liver, the kidneys, and colon to help with their natural clean process. This will help your body to not hold water weight.
2. Exercise. Conduct an amount and type of exercise that is appropriate for your state of health (Check with your doctor of course). For most people, walking at least 15 minutes a day is a good place to start. Exercise increases circulation, respiration and cellular metabolism.
3. Include fiber-containing foods in your diet. Eat fresh vegetables and whole fruits. You may choose to use a dietary fiber product containing psyllium or other bulk-forming fiber source. The fiber helps to absorb toxins and “flush-out” the digestive track.
4. It is always best to eat whole foods that are fresh. Avoid processed foods, refined foods and foods containing toxins and “anti-nutrients” (sugars, caffeine, alcohol, artificial flavors and colors, chemicals, MSG, etc.). This will reduce the work of processing unhealthy foods, and it will increase the available nutrition for your body to rebuild itself.
5. Reduce your exposure to environmental toxins and pollutants. Allow plenty of fresh air in your living and work places; avoid fumes from strong-smelling products, reduce your exposure to cigarette smoke, etc. Reducing your daily load makes it easier for your body to get rid of old toxins.
6. Give your body rest by sleeping at least 8 hours. Your body needs time to recuperate and continually burning working and staying up late is not a good way for your body to heal itself. Get your sleep!
7. Listen to your body and do whatever you need to do to stay within a manageable comfort zone. Do not over stress yourself by every little thing that you hear which is contrary to your beliefs. No matter if all your problems went away, there would still be things you could stress about. You may find that a smaller helping of a particular nutritional product is better for you, either temporarily while there’s a strong cleansing response, or long-term due to your body chemistry.
Or a nutritional product isn’t good for you…and its cleansing action is too strong. You can reduce or even stop taking the supplements for a few days until you feel better, and then gradually build back up to a regular daily amount. It’s better to start of slowly than attempting to win the race by thinking detoxification won’t happen to you. And you may have to repeat the start-stop cycle more than one time.
8. If symptoms cause concern, check with your health professional. Some symptoms may be unrelated to the body’s healing response, or the healing response itself may draw attention to an underlying problem.
