One of the most important things about the addiction treatment program in Pennsylvania is that it keeps regularly changing. One of the best examples of this is the introduction (and success) of the dual diagnosis approach of treatment. Though this approach has been present in the state for over three decades now, it is in the recent years that it has become more popular and several treatment methods in today’s times are following it.
Basically, what is the dual diagnosis program? In simple words, this is a treatment method in which two or more coexisting conditions are treated together. Generally, the coexisting conditions are of such a manner that they influence each other. The treatment of one of them cannot be effectively done without treating the other condition and vice-versa. Hence, a method to treat both of these conditions simultaneously is employed. This is what is known as the dual diagnosis treatment method, which has become a very important aspect of the addiction treatment program in Pennsylvania.
