Can money buy happiness?
That seems to be a fairly controversial question. Most everyone will hotly deny that money can buy happiness.
But think about it for a minute. That may just be a “fact” from our backgrounds. I was raised, as I’m sure most of you were, that money couldn’t buy happiness. “Money can’t buy happiness,” my mother would say.
Ever hear that before?
If I had a nickel for every time…Ha ha. Well, you get the picture…
Anyway, as I was saying, a lot of us were raised to believe that money can’t buy happiness.
But what about this?
“The lack of money creates unhappiness.”
Did anybody ever bother to tell us that when we were growing up?
Are you happy today? The psychologists believe that happiness comes from inside out. Everybody has the potential to create happiness for themselves. Your happiness is related how you view the world. If you understand this, you can make yourself happy. Here are the six techniques that can help bringing happiness into your life including:
1. Do not rely just on luck or outside influence.
A lot of people want to be happy by winning a lottery or other types of gambling. They expect a good pay from their job or big bonus. Actually, happiness comes from the power within you. This power comes from how you view yourself. Researches show that when a person wins a lottery, he will be happy only initially. But this feeling fades away very fast. It does not last. Only the one who relies on himself will have more consistent happiness.
Feeling happy is all about your thoughts. You can’t have a feeling without first having a thought. Therefore, if you’re feeling happy, it’s because you’re thinking happy thoughts.
Same is true for sad. If you’re sad, it’s because you’re thinking sad thoughts.
So the secret to happiness is to pay attention to your feelings. They’ll keep you on track. They’re the feedback to tell you what you’re thinking.
Yeah. I know. We’re the ones doing the thinking, so we should know what we’re thinking. Right?
Not if we’re not paying attention.
Have you ever had a tiny thought that just started escalating? Some little something that irked you? And you just kept building on that thought without even being aware of it?
