There are tons of pills that claim to immediately “cure” your ailments or health problems. Maybe you think it is easier to just pop a pill to “cure” whatever is wrong with you, but the fact is, it would be a lot more effective to evaluate your eating habits and alter them to enhance your health. Does your body really get all of the essential nutrients that it should? When we make food choices that are simply convenient and time-saving without examining their nutritional worth, we are doing our mind, body, spirit, and health a disservice. The average modern diet includes large quantities of sugar, starch, fried food, and food with high fat content. This results in increasingly frequent cases of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, Alzheimer’s disease, and some forms of cancer.

The Independent Consultant as a Mental Health Consultant in Early Childhood Settings

The goal of a mental health consultant who works in early childhood settings is the promotion of mental wellness and encouragement of positive social relations in children.

A 2005 study by Yale University’s Ed Ziglar Center in Child development found that 6.7 children per 1000 are expelled from preschool every year, three times the rate of expulsions in kindergarten through high school. However, preschool teachers who have access to mental health consultants are about half as likely to expel a child compares with teachers who lack such support based on a report that looked at 3,898 preschool classes in 40 states.

Another recent study in 89 classes conducted by the Tulane University’s Institute of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health link the mental health help offered there to improved behavior and learning and more cheerful classroom climates.

Although the community mental health movement continues to be strong and vital, problems associated with deinstitutionalization and the homeless have begun to reshape thinking on the care of the disorder. More realistic for the future would be for public psychiatric hospitals to work together with local community mental health movements is then committed.
