Omega 3 Fish Oil Supplements Reduce the Risk of Death After Myocardial Infarction

Myocardial Infarction is a blockage of arteries supplying the muscles of the heart. This causes damage to the muscles of the heart and increases the risk of death from heart failure. Omega 3 fish oil supplements have been shown to reduce the risk of death by as much as ten to fourteen percent for those who have suffered a myocardial infarction.

In a study from 1993 to 1995 over eleven thousand patients who had recently suffered a myocardial infarction were given either Omega 3 supplements, Vitamin E supplements or no supplement. The object being to determine if these supplements reduced the risk of heart failure.

The results conclusively showed that Omega 3 supplements reduced the risk of death by heart failure amongst these patients. The use of Vitamin E showed no such improvement.

Omega 3 supplements in other studies have shown other health benefits for heart sufferers.

Omega 3 fatty acids are essential fats. This means that they are required by the human body for good health. However they cannot be produced by the body and must be supplied in the diet. Cold water oily fish are an excellent source of these Omega 3 fatty acids. Vegetarian sources include flax seeds and walnuts.

Omega 3 fish oil capsules are manufactured from fish oil using a process called micro distillation which refines and concentrates the fish oil. In the process pollutants such as mercury and heavy metals are removed. The end product is rich in the essential Omega 3 fats for good health.

You can improve your heart health by starting to regularly take Omega 3 capsules. They are easy to take and cost effective as a health supplement.

Omega 3 fish oil supplements are not an overnight quick fix but a long term investment in your good health.
