As any parent knows, small children are into everything that they can be. Cupboards, tables, pots, anything that looks like it may be interesting, they are all over. This is a worry, knowing the sort of substances we keep in our houses, and the kitchen brings even more danger with all sorts of dangerous objects to add into the mix.

So to keep your children safe and rest your mind, it is a good idea to fit latches onto all the cupboards, as these are difficult for some adults to access, let alone little fingers. They are really easy to install and don’t require getting an expert in, but will make you sleep a little easier knowing they are there.

It’s also a good idea to make sure that wires are out of sight, as children like nothing better than to tug on them, to see what’s at the other end. This can cause injury as things fall off shelves and tables, resulting in an unwanted trip to casualty.  Read more...

Many of us need to stop and think about the things that we have in our homes that help to keep us safe such as fire alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.  These things generally pop into our minds when we first purchase a home or we hear about an accident that happened to someone else.  However, we never really think about the upkeep that we need to do these products.  Keep these simple things in mind in order to keep your family safe at all times.

 

1.)   Be sure that you change the batteries in your fire alarm.  You will want to be certain that you are doing this at least one time per year.  It is actually recommended that you do it on the weekend of daylight savings time.  This will help you remember to change the batteries when you need to change your clocks.  Read more...

Pots forgotten on the fire, water taps and gas taps left open, households used even if wet and then turned off by puling the wire off the plug…Italians are careless, borderline recklessness. This is what the first annual Censis report on security level in Italy reveals: in the house much more accidents occur than on the road or at work.

Beyond comfort, it is also important that the house is safe. Gas and electrical system must be according to law, electrical equipments must be used with care, fireplaces and boilers must be in accordance with the best practice. But this is not all.
